Dark Side of the Moon - Review

What can be said about the album that showed to the whole world who was Pink Floyd? It's one of their best albums of all time if not the best. Some people say that this cant be the best Pink Floyd album. Those people aren't seeing this album as a hole, they are seeing this album music by music and that way no, this isn't their best album. This album is meant to be judge like if it was only one music. Any other earlier album, since Gilmour came to the band, could probably have had the same success like for example: Atom Heart Mother or Meddle or Obscured by the Clouds, but they didn't had the same publicity this one had, that's why this was their revelation album. Still I think it was the best album for it to happen.

Composed by nine songs, Dark Side of the Moon is one of the most selling albums of all time and we can see why. For me it was the first album were they had real lyrics, just that gave a new dimension for its songs. Starting up with the song Breathe, a brilliant song very simple, followed by On the Run that its well included in the subject of the album that is madness, still its the most weak song. Time, one damn excellent music that has to be put together with The Great Gig on the Sky, witch is for me one of the most beautiful songs of the CD with the vocals of Clare Torry. Money, one of their most selling singles, the music speaks for it self, very original, very simple, excellent. Next the classic called Us and Them, a very slow paced song with great sax solos and a strong presence of Wrights keyboards like in the rest of the album. Any Color you Like, a strange music that fitted excellently next to Us and Them. Then to complete Brain Damage and Eclipse. Brain Damage for me has some great lyrics and it has to be put together with Eclipse, the best way of ending an album.

In this album no more of those typical long songs that were present in their previous albums. A strong presence of Wright in it and the introduction of a sax player together with some great backing vocals. The albums works, almost nothing misses on this album its almost perfect. Though it doesn't has my favorite song it is my favorite album.

Its a must not just for Floyd fans but for all good music lovers. My rate for it could only be:

A+
