The Wall - Review
This was the first Pink Floyd album I bought. When I heard it I found it amazing but when I bought the other ones I thought that this is a good album but they made better albums than this. This is probably their most known album, who doesn't remember it with the famous sentence "we don't need no education..." ? But it sure aint the best they made. At the point when this album was made, they were having lots of troubles inside the group, caused by Roger Water that was going through an ego crisis, that clearly affected the songs especially when it came to Wright since he was forced by Waters to leave the band when the Wall would be finished.
That's what we all miss in the Wall, the playing of Wright. He is there but those parts he play aren't really all of his value. It's well showed that he was affected by Waters when he forced him to leave the band. But besides this problem I think the wall is conceptually brilliant. The hole idea of a wall between him and the audience, that later became a idea of Wall between a man and the rest of the world that has treated him bad, came out of Rogers head and the lyrics to this album were the best he ever made. Yet musically I don't like the Wall the way I like the other albums, there are some musical gaps in lots of songs, places that need to be filled. I believe this could be their best album if all those problems among them didn't affected their performance.
I'm not going to talk about all the songs otherwise I would be here forever writing but I will talk about some that are great. On the first CD I have to talk about the famous Another Brick in the Wall. I like all he parts of it and I think its a great song though I prefer In the Flesh and One of my Turns. The second CD, witch I think its better musically, has three songs that I want to mention. First is Hey You, I believe this song is great, I like everything about it but I prefer Comfortably Numb witch is my favorite song on this album. We can see clearly the influence of Gilmour on this song that gives more shine to the songs he make. I believe he is a better music makes than Roger. The last song I want to talk about is The Trial, its a true work of art. I like the music and the voices made by Waters with an accent.
Hearing this album is like reading a book with a story. If you don't have any Pink Floyd albums don't start with this one, if you do, you should have already bought it. My rate to it is:
B+
